The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has asked motorists to check its online portal for uncollected smart driving licences, vehicle logbooks and reflective number plates, warning them against brokers who demand money for the services.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a notice on Monday, October 12, the authority said the portal was free to access and did not require registration, allowing motorists to confirm whether their documents were ready before visiting collection centres.

Motorists can use their national identity numbers to search for uncollected smart driving licences, while vehicle or motorcycle registration numbers can be used to check for logbooks and reflective number plates.

“Checking the status of your smart driving licence and number plates is free; do not deal with brokers,” NTSA said.

📌 What You Need to Know

The portal also shows motorists the specific centres where their documents should be collected, helping them avoid unnecessary trips to NTSA offices.

Users can also submit complaints about delays or problems with smart driving licences, logbooks and number plates through the portal , with the authority sending feedback to the email address provided once a complaint is resolved.

“Feedback to clients upon resolution of complaints/concerns is sent through the email address provided by the client at the point of submission via the portal,” the authority added.

The notice comes as NTSA continues to encourage motorists to use its official platforms and avoid intermediaries who may exploit them by demanding payment to process or fast-track documents.

Days earlier, on Thursday, October 8, the authority announced that motorists could have their driving licences processed and collected in under two minutes under a service aimed at improving efficiency and reducing waiting times at its offices.

NTSA has also introduced SMS notifications for services such as vehicle ownership transfers .
