The Tanzanian national appeared before a Mombasa court on June 23, where he denied charges of trafficking narcotic drugs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.
He did not face the charges alone. A Kenyan national was also arraigned alongside him, with both suspects denying any involvement in the drug haul as confirmed by ODPP.
“The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged a Tanzanian truck driver and a Kenyan national with trafficking cannabis worth more than Ksh10 million,” stated ODPP.

The two were charged jointly with others still at large, accused of trafficking 333.35 kilograms of cannabis valued at over Ksh10 million on June 19.
The incident unfolded in the Mariakani area of Kaloleni Sub-County, Kilifi County, where anti-narcotics detectives intercepted a white FAW JH5 truck towing a trailer and a container.
A search of the vehicle led to a startling discovery of nine sacks filled with dry plant material that officers immediately suspected to be bhang.
Laboratory analysis later confirmed the substance weighed 333.35 kilograms, with an estimated street value exceeding Ksh10 million.
The exhibits were forwarded to the Government Chemist for further analysis.
The case was heard before Mombasa Resident Magistrate Jamlick Muriithi Mwenda, with Prosecution Counsel Martin Mbote leading the state's case against the two accused.
