Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that he has called on the intervention of the United States Embassy to help track how the grants and funds given to the Kenyan government to tackle the Ebola virus have been used.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Speaking at a rally in Mombasa on Saturday, October 10, Kalonzo accused the government of negligence and failing to protect Kenyans from the Ebola threat.

He further demanded accountability for all the funds given to Kenya as grants to help in Ebola preparedness and response, alleging that the government might have squandered the money.

According to Kalonzo, he has spoken to officials at the U.S. Embassy in Kenya on the need to follow up on financial assistance the Trump administration had directed to the Ministry of Health.

📌 What You Need to Know

Kalonzo warned that the alleged misuse of funds by government officials could undermine Ebola preparedness, expose more Kenyans to the virus and put lives at risk.

"Kenyans must not lose their lives because of negligence and corruption," he warned.

Kenya reported its first imported Ebola case on October 2, 2026. The patient later died and was buried under Ministry of Health supervision.

Following the outbreak, international partners, including the United States and China, stepped in to support Kenya's preparedness and response efforts.

China provided Kenya with a Ksh259 million grant to support Ebola response efforts and drought mitigation measures.

In July 2026, the United States also provided Kenya with more than Ksh1.9 billion to strengthen its Ebola preparedness.
