Siaya Governor James Orengo has revealed plans he claims are underway to sabotage the Linda Mwananchi rally set for Homa Bay this Sunday, August 16.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

While addressing the media on August 12 with a section of Linda Mwanachi members, he outlined that a secretive night meeting was allegedly held right after a UDA-ODM Broad-Based Parliamentary Group meeting in Naivasha on August 10, where he says weapons were allegedly handed out to a group of people.

He claimed the items distributed included rungus, arrows, and hangers, with the rest of the stash reportedly stored at a Governor’s house for later use.

“We have all the details of what they are planning. Yesterday, they had a night meeting after the UDA-ODM meeting at Governor's Park, where weapons were distributed. Rungus, arrows, and hangars, they were distributed last night,” Orengo stated.

📌 What You Need to Know

Orengo described the alleged Governor’s house as the same targeting centre allegedly used during the last general election campaigns.

He further alleged that another meeting took place the same day at Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluna’s residence, this time involving a group he referred to as goons.

Orengo promised that video evidence from some of these meetings would be released soon, adding that audio from the Governor's Park gathering is already circulating.

“Today, there was another meeting at Honourable Kaloma's house, with goons, and I think at a later time, we're going to show you video material on some of these meetings. The meeting at Governor's Park, the audio is already out, with voices of the people that I'm talking about,” Orengo stated.

He also claimed that market women were being approached and vehemently warned against setting up their stalls in Homa Bay Town on the day of the rally. These claims were also backed by other leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Orengo further alleged that women were being directed to sell their goods at Kabunde Airstrip as an alternative trading point for their goods under a questionable registration process.
