Motorists using Nairobi's Outer Ring Road have been advised to expect temporary traffic disruption on Saturday, August 8, following the planned partial road closure by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a traffic advisory on Thursday, August 6, KURA said the closure will take effect from 12 pm to 3 pm to facilitate the removal of a gantry installed along the busy road.

According to the Authority, the affected section is located near the Airport North Road interchange, where contractors will undertake the removal works for about four hours.

Among the estates set to be affected by the partial closure are Huruma, Mlango Kubwa, Kiamaiko, Kariobangi North, Kariobangi South, Dandora, Buru Buru and Umoja 1.

📌 What You Need to Know

Others are Umoja 2, Umoja Inner Core, Tena, Donholm, Pipeline and Embakasi, all of which rely on the Outer Ring Road as a key transport corridor.

"Motorists are informed of a partial closure of Outer Ring Road on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 12 pm to 3 pm to facilitate removal of a gantry at the location indicated in the attached sketch," KURA noted.

The Authority noted that traffic movement will be managed in phases to minimise disruption, with the road only being fully closed during the actual removal of the gantry.

As per the work schedule seen by Kenyans.co.ke , beginning at 12 pm to about 3 pm, machinery will be positioned at the site while traffic continues to flow at restricted speeds.

Between 1:30 pm and 2 pm, the affected section of Outer Ring Road will be completely closed to allow for the safe removal of the gantry.

From 2 pm to 3 pm, the contractor will demobilise equipment, after which the road will be reopened with motorists required to maintain reduced speeds.
