President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 7, commissioned the Raila Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’O Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.

Located about eight meters from the former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s mausoleum, the site features a paved walkway, landscaped buffer, new gates, signage, and curved pathways.

Wildlife and buffalo sculptures can also be seen at the entrance, just before entering the vintage-style door.

Images obtained by Kenyans.co.ke show the spacious interior, giving visitors a glimpse of what will become the final resting place of the man who shaped Kenyan politics for decades.

📌 What You Need to Know

At the centre of the memorial is a broad black marble platform, veined in white and polished to a mirror finish that reflects the windows and ceiling above.

The grave is framed in brown marble and filled with smooth white pebbles, creating a contrast of colours and textures.

A black granite headstone bears one of the former premier’s famous words, engraved alongside his signature: “Democracy is the price of freedom - Aluta Continua!”

The memorial walls feature historical backlit photographs and artwork documenting Raila Odinga’s decades-long political journey and contribution to Kenya’s democratic development.

On them are panels titled "Baba" and "Enigma" that line the walls beside framed famous quotations, turning the chamber into a gallery narrating his life and struggle.

The mausoleum combines modern architectural elements with symbolic features honouring Raila’s political and historical legacy.
