🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Images and videos analysed by  Kenyans.co.ke reveal the Head of State was being driven around in a  black Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Pullman, one of the most exclusive armoured limousines in the world.

The vehicle ferried, among others, President Ruto and the First Lady Rachael Ruto through the Kazakh capital, flanked by a police motorcycle escort and flying the Kenyan national flag.

The Pullman is the longest and most expensive version of the Mercedes S-Class, measuring roughly 6.5 meters and built almost exclusively for Heads of State, royalty and diplomatic fleets.

📌 What You Need to Know

Its stretched cabin features face-to-face executive seating, a privacy partition and extensive sound insulation, while the "Guard" specification adds integrated ballistic armour, bullet-resistant glass and run-flat tyres designed to keep occupants moving under attack.

Power comes from a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine producing roughly 530 horsepower, enough to move the heavily reinforced car with what reviewers have described as surprising ease.

Despite its enormous size and weight, the limousine delivers smooth acceleration and near-silent performance, qualities prized in diplomatic and executive transport.

New examples started above 500,000 euros, about Ksh75 million, before armour and bespoke fittings, with fully armoured state versions reported to cost several million dollars.

The name "Pullman" traces to the luxury railway coaches of the 19th century, a nod Mercedes adopted for its chauffeur-driven flagships.

As standard practice, host nations organise the transport for visiting dignitaries, and thus the costs of transporting President Ruto and his entourage during his Kazakhstan visit is on the local government.
