Protests erupted in Nairobi’s Central Business District on Thursday morning as victims of past anti-government demonstrations and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) health workers took to the streets over separate grievances.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The UHC workers staged a march demanding that the Ministry of Health absorb them into permanent and pensionable terms and pay gratuity for the six years they have served under the programme.

The health workers said their long-term engagement without job security has left them financially strained, insisting that the government must absorb them permanently.

At the same time, a separate group of protest victims staged a procession to the Nairobi Central Police Station to submit a formal request seeking approval to participate in a peaceful procession scheduled for June 25, 2026.
