Speaking during a meeting with the football club on Wednesday, July 15, at the State House, Ruto said the additional funding was part of his government's commitment to support Kenyan football and also to strengthen the club.

According to Ruto, he will add Ksh25 million to the club's current annual sponsorship of Ksh75 million, ultimately increasing it to Ksh100 million.

"On sponsorship, for this year, I understand you have a Ksh75 million a year sponsorship. However, I will add that up to Ksh100 million for this year," Ruto stated.

The Head of State also pledged KSh10 million to the club, directing that half be shared among the players, while the remaining KSh5 million be used to recruit new players ahead of the upcoming Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.

"You have also asked for resources to sign new players ahead of the new season. I will do something about that. I will give you Ksh10 million. The players will take Ksh5 million, and the remaining will be used for the new signings," he added.

Beyond financial support, the President also pledged government assistance to improve the club's home ground, which the club said was in poor condition.

Ruto directed Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya to work with his team to develop a design for upgrading the stadium to the required standards.

"The field you're using, which I'm told you have on lease. we are looking for some resources to develop the stadium so that it meets good standards. Mvurya will instruct his team to come up with a design to develop the field," he said.

The move comes a day after the president hosted Harambee Starlets and Junior Starlets after they qualified for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and the Under-17 Women's FIFA World Cup, respectively.
