President William Ruto has reassigned Principal Secretaries Kello Harsama and Dr Caroline Karugu in a fresh government shake-up aimed at addressing the leadership gap left by the resignation of the former Petroleum Principal Secretary.

In a special notice released on May 28, President William Ruto announced that Harsama has been moved from the State Department for ASALs and Regional Development to the State Department for Petroleum, while Karugu was appointed Acting Principal Secretary for ASALs, alongside her current role as East African Community Affairs.

"THE RE-ASSIGNMENTS are intended to fill the vacancy arising from the resignation of the immediate former Principal Secretary for the State Department for Petroleum and to ensure continuity in the administration and coordination of Government functions within the affected State Departments," stated President Ruto.
