Speaking in Kisumu on Monday during the second day of his five-day development tour of Nyanza, Ruto said peace, stability and national unity remain central to the Government’s efforts to grow the economy and improve the lives of Kenyans.
The President challenged opposition leaders to abandon what he described as outdated politics based on empty rhetoric, tribalism, division and violence.
“We have raised the bar of leadership in Kenya. It is not about personalities; it is about the people,” Ruto said.

He also challenged the opposition to present Kenyans with a clear political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Ruto said the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) were working together to transform the country and accelerate development.
He warned that opposition parties without a clear agenda would struggle to compete in the 2027 polls.
“If you do not have an agenda, we will defeat you early in the morning,” he said.
Ruto described the 2027 election as a watershed moment for Kenya, saying it should mark a break from tribalism, divisiveness and discrimination and usher in an era of national unity, inclusivity and shared purpose.
Turning to development, Ruto said Kisumu County would remain part of the Government’s infrastructure expansion programme.
