Ruto's grip is slipping — kumbe his 24 per cent support is basically a limp handshake — but the opposition is so fractured, they might just hand him 2027 on a silver platter. Sawa, this is peak Kenyan politics right here.

The Plot Twist Nobody Expected

So TIFA Research dropped a poll that's basically telling us President William Ruto is vulnerable, lakini — and this is a big lakini — his competition is messier than a Nairobi matatu during rush hour. The man's sitting at 24 per cent, which sounds fine until you realise three-quarters of Kenya wants literally anyone else. But here's the thing: Kalonzo's at 19, Matiang'i's at 14, Sifuna's at 10, and Gachagua's at 9. Bana, they're all eating from the same plate but nobody's willing to share!

The pollsters were pretty clear about it: Ruto's popularity is weaker than a two-day-old mandazi, but the opposition is so scattered that even his weakness might not matter. It's like they're all running different races on the same track. Aki, the irony is chef's kiss — the president who should be sweating bullets might actually waltz into 2027 because his opponents can't get their act together.

Opposition Alliance Madness: Pick Your Flavour

The opposition tried to look organised with some potential pairings. A Kalonzo-Matiang'i team got 31 per cent support among opposition voters, while Kalonzo and Sifuna together pulled 28 per cent. Sounds decent, yeah? Except these guys haven't even kissed and made up yet! Meanwhile, when Kenyans were asked who'd actually beat Ruto, Matiang'i, Kalonzo, and Gachagua all came out at basically the same level — 18, 18, and 17 per cent. Sijui how that helps anybody.

The most damning stat? ODM supporters are literally rebelling against their own party. 73 per cent of party members back the "Linda Mwananchi" faction that's basically saying "sack Ruto's Broad-Based Government." That's not just cracks in the foundation — that's a full-blown renovation job.

The Death of Political Loyalty

Remember when ODM and UDA were these massive political powerhouses? ODM dropped from 32 per cent support in 2022 to 18 per cent now. UDA went from 38 per cent down to 17 per cent. Kenyans are tired, ndio? Traditional party politics is basically a three-legged race where everybody's falling over.

Plus, the Broad-Based Government deal is collapsing faster than a house of cards in a Nairobi windstorm. November had 44 per cent support; now it's 30 per cent, with opposition hitting 56 per cent. Raila's death basically pulled the rug out from under the whole thing.

The Jukwaa Take: Ruto's weak, but the opposition's weaker — and that's the joke that could win him 2027 if they don't get serious real fast.
