School principals across the country have been given a seven-day deadline to submit updated Grade 10 enrollment and textbook distribution data to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The announcement comes as the Ministry of Education prepares for the second phase of textbook distribution across all senior secondary schools.
In a notice dated Friday, June 12, KICD Chief Executive Officer Charles Ong'ondo said the first phase of Grade 10 textbook distribution had been completed using data initially provided by the Ministry of Education.
However, the institute now requires s chool principals to confirm their actual student enrollment figures by the end of the first term of 2026 to facilitate the next round of textbook allocation.
📌 What You Need to Know
“KICD informs all senior school principals that the first phase of the distribution of Grade 10 textbooks has been completed, guided by the data initially provided by the Ministry of Education,” the agency announced.
“The Institute is seeking to confirm the Grade 10 student enrolment data in every public senior school by the end of First Term 2026 in terms of numbers of learners taking various subjects,” it added.
Principals have since been directed to provide the current number of Grade 10 learners enrolled in each subject, as well as the number of textbooks received per subject.
The information will enable KICD to identify schools with shortages or excesses and ensure that all learners receive textbooks in line with the government's One-to-One textbook policy.
According to the agency, the data should be submitted through an online form provided by KICD at: forms.office.com/r/MqThQtBxQh , with the submission deadline set for June 19, 2026.
“Therefore, all Principals of Public Senior Schools are requested to submit the current number of Grade 10 learners by subject and textbooks received per subject,” KICD stated.
