🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Kenyans.co.ke learnt of her passing on Monday, September 8, following confirmation by the Kenya Police Service (KPS).
The death has drawn messages of sympathy from colleagues and senior officers who have worked with Onyango during his career in law enforcement.
“The Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr Eliud Lagat, accompanied by senior officers from the Kenya Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, visited Deputy Director of the DCI, John Onyango, SAIG, following the passing of his wife,” KPS stated.
📌 What You Need to Know
Following the news, Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat visited the grieving family, accompanied by a delegation of senior officers from the Kenya Police Service and the DCI.
“On behalf of the entire Kenya Police Service, DIG Lagat conveyed his condolences to Mr Onyango and his family and assured them of the Service’s support during this period of mourning,” KPS added.
Onyango, who also holds the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG), is a senior figure within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the wider police service.
His wife’s death comes amid a series of recent incidents involving senior police officers and their families, including deaths from illness and cases of alleged domestic violence.
In March this year, Assistant Inspector General Paul Kiprono Langat died after a prolonged illness and was buried in Bomet County, where senior security leaders eulogised him as a diligent and principled officer.
In a separate case, 43-year-old Florence Nyagah, wife of DCI Inspector Daniel Mburu Macharia, was found dead with multiple deep cuts at their home in Roysambu on March 1.
