🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Reports indicated that the victims were the Hagadera Sub-County Police Commander and his driver, who were travelling in a Land Cruiser when the explosion occurred.

However, the extent of the damage to the vehicle and the possible presence of other occupants had not been established by the time of publication.
📌 What You Need to Know
The fatal incident adds to a series of suspected militant attacks involving explosives and other forms of violence in the northeastern region.
On August 7, at least six people sustained injuries after the Land Cruiser they were travelling in struck a roadside IED near Odole Village in Elwak Sub-County, Mandera County, in an incident suspected to have been carried out by Al-Shabaab.
One of the injured victims was reported to be in critical condition after being taken to Elwak Sub-County Referral Hospital for treatment.
The following day, a 35-year-old man lost an arm when a suspected explosive device detonated in his hands in Mandera Town.
Police and other security agencies responded to the incident, with investigators examining recovered items as they sought to establish the circumstances surrounding the blast.
At the time, security reports indicated that at least 25 cross-border attacks had been recorded in Mandera, Garissa, Wajir and Lamu counties this year.
