📌 What You Need to Know
The number of casualties remained unconfirmed by the time of publication, as authorities had yet to provide official figures.
The cause of the accident had also not been established, with investigations expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the tanker explosion.

Authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the tanker explosion by the time of publication. The 20-kilometre Sachangwan-Salgaa corridor along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway is a notorious black spot with a history of fatal multi-vehicle crashes.
Steep slopes, dangerous overtaking, speeding, and brake failures have contributed to deadly accidents, including the infamous 2009 tanker explosion that killed over 110 people who were syphoning fuel. The incident adds to the growing list of accidents that have been witnessed since the start of October , including the 17 pilgrims who perished at Mlima Kiu in the Salama area along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway on Saturday. Two days later, two more people died in two separate crashes along the Salama-Sultan Hamud stretch, with the incidents occurring a few metres apart and about a kilometre from Salama.
