Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has given government accounting officers two weeks to review the status of projects, programmes and directives being implemented across ministries, departments and State corporations.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Koskei issued the directive on Wednesday, August 26, after convening a virtual consultative meeting with Principal Secretaries, chairpersons and chief executive officers of State corporations and government-owned enterprises.
The officials have been directed to conduct a comprehensive review of projects and programmes under their respective dockets and consolidate their status within two weeks.
The exercise is expected to provide the government with an updated picture of which projects and directives have been implemented, those still ongoing, and areas where action may be required.

It will also examine the use and alignment of resources and identify areas where mandates and responsibilities overlap between different government institutions.
Koskei said the exercise was part of efforts to improve coordination and implementation as the administration seeks to complete its programmes.
“Accounting Officers will undertake a comprehensive review of projects, programmes and directives within their respective dockets and consolidate their status within two weeks,” Koskei directed.
“Our engagement, anchored on the theme ‘Finishing Strong through Deliberate and Intentional Management’, focused on improving coordination, accelerating implementation and ensuring that Government programmes deliver the intended results,” he added.
The review comes as the government continues to oversee major projects including the expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway, construction and upgrading of highways and the development of housing projects under the Affordable Housing Programme.
The assessment could provide an update on the progress of such projects as the government approaches the latter stages of its current term, alongside numerous other programmes being implemented across the country.
