Police in Isinya, Kajiado County, have recovered government stores, Administration Police uniforms, and copper wire following an operation targeting suspected criminals.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The operation was launched after officers received actionable intelligence that suspects were allegedly burning copper wire at a hideout to strip off its insulation.
Officers rushed to the location and found signs of the suspected activity, but the suspects reportedly managed to escape before police could close in on them.
A subsequent search of one of the houses associated with the suspects led to the recovery of several items believed to be linked to the activities under investigation.
📌 What You Need to Know
Among the items recovered were Administration Police uniform pieces, including a beret, shirt, jungle jacket, trousers and a maroon belt.
Police also found pliers and tin snips, equipment that can be used to cut and strip copper wire, alongside solar equipment and other assorted items.
The recovery of the AP uniforms has added another dimension to the investigation as detectives work to establish how the government-issued clothing came into the possession of the suspects.
The operation comes amid investigations into criminal activities in which individuals have allegedly used security-style clothing or equipment , with detectives examining whether such items have been used to facilitate offences.
In a separate case in Eldoret, Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives recently raided a suspected gang hideout in Sungura area of Huruma Estate and recovered military-style clothing and other items.
The DCI said detectives from Soy acted on credible intelligence indicating that the premises were allegedly being used as a base for a gang's illicit activities.
