TradeMark Africa (TMA) has appointed three new directors to its Board as it strengthens leadership to support its expansion across Africa under its 2023-2030 strategy.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The new board members are Rwanda's former African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Dr Monique Nsanzabaganwa, Mali's investment and agriculture expert Safia Boly, and Kenyan industrialist Jaswinder Bedi.
The appointments come as TMA seeks to accelerate inclusive, greener and digitally enabled trade across the continent while expanding its footprint beyond East Africa.
Under its 2023-2030 strategy, the organisation aims to mobilise and invest about $700 million, support a 33 per cent increase in Africa's exports to the rest of the world, boost intra-African trade by $70 billion and help create or improve 400,000 jobs by 2030.
📌 What You Need to Know
TMA Board Chair, Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe, said the new directors would strengthen the organisation's strategic oversight as it broadens its operations across Africa.
"The incoming directors each bring a perspective that matters to TMA's work, including enterprise, agriculture, finance and continental policy," he said.
Adding, "As TMA grows its work across Africa, that range of experience will help keep the Board close to both the politics of trade and the realities faced by African firms that produce and trade across borders."
Nsanzabaganwa joins the board after serving as Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission between 2021 and 2025. She previously served as Rwanda's Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of State for Economic Planning and Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda.
She is also a member of Africa's G20 Africa Expert Panel and brings more than two decades of experience in public finance, economic planning and regional integration.
Boly currently serves as Senior Vice President for Africa at Heifer International, where she oversees programmes in 12 African countries reaching nearly 860,000 farming households.
