The National Treasury and Agriculture Ministry have announced  separate public auctions of government-owned vehicles and other assets, offering Kenyans a rare opportunity to acquire refurbished items at affordable prices.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a public notice dated Tuesday, June 16, the two ministries also revealed plans to auction office equipment, furniture and livestock through competitive bidding at the end of June 2026.

Both auctions are scheduled for June 30, 2026, and form part of the government's ongoing disposal of excess and obsolete assets in accordance with public asset management regulations.

The National Treasury will conduct its auction at 11am at the Ministry of Public Works Yard along Machakos Road in Nairobi, with the exercise expected to be presided over by a private auctioneer.

📌 What You Need to Know

According to the auction notice, Treasury will dispose of boarded vehicles, general office equipment, and office furniture, with interested participants urged to inspect the items before bidding.

"The State Department for Economic Planning shall sell by public auction boarded vehicles, general office equipment and office furniture on June 30, 2026, from 11am at the Ministry of Public Works Yard, Machakos Road, Nairobi," read the notice in part.

While announcing the disposal of the items, Treasury stated that the full list of items meant for auction was available on the state department’s website: planning.go.ke

To participate, bidders will pay a refundable deposit equal to 10 per cent of the reserve price for the category of items they intend to bid for.

"Bidders will be issued a bidding number upon payment of the bid number deposit, which will serve as an entry pass to the auction yard," the Treasury announced.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture has announced a separate public auction involving used vehicles, livestock, and obsolete items.
