TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi announced the allocation on Friday, June 26, during the closing ceremony of the 49th KESSHA Annual National Conference of Principals in Mombasa, confirming that the new salaries will take effect from July.

According to Muturi, the increase comes after the government allocated Ksh8.4 billion to enhance their pay.

"We have been allocated Ksh8.4 billion for increasing teachers' salaries from July this year. That money has been allocated, and we will ensure that it is paid," Muturi said.

At the same time, Muturi announced that the commission will advertise the promotion of more than 30,000 teachers in the coming weeks after receiving Ksh2 billion from the National Treasury to facilitate the promotions as part of efforts to improve teachers' welfare.

Additionally, the TSC chairperson revealed that the commission has secured funding to employ 24,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, a move that addresses one of the key demands raised by the teachers during recent nationwide demonstrations.
