In a fraud alert issued on Friday, July 10, the commission dismissed the widely shared poster as fake, urging members of the public to ignore it and rely only on official TSC communication channels for recruitment announcements.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
"Please take note of this flyer circulating online regarding 'Vacancies for Teacher Interns in Junior Schools (July 2026).' Please be advised that this poster is FAKE," TSC warned.
The fraudulent notice claims the commission is inviting applications for 24,000 Junior School teacher internship positions, with applications allegedly running between July 10 and July 23 through the TSC careers portal.
It further lists qualification requirements, including Kenyan citizenship, a diploma in education, registration with TSC and academic grades, while purporting to provide recruitment guidelines for the internship programme.
📌 What You Need to Know
TSC has, however, distanced itself from the advert, cautioning job seekers against falling victim to fraudsters who often exploit periods of heightened public interest in government recruitment drives.
The warning comes at a time when the commission has announced several major employment and career advancement plans that have heightened expectations among teachers across the country.
Last month, TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi announced that teachers will begin receiving salary increases from July after the government allocated Ksh8.4 billion to improve their pay.
"We have been allocated Ksh8.4 billion for increasing teachers' salaries from July this year. That money has been allocated, and we will ensure that it is paid," Muturi said during the 49th KESSHA Annual National Conference of Principals in Mombasa.
Muturi also revealed that the commission had received Ksh2 billion from the National Treasury to facilitate the promotion of more than 30,000 teachers across grades C2 to D5, with promotions to be based on merit, performance and years of service.
In addition, the TSC chairperson announced that funding had been secured to recruit 24,000 Junior Secondary School teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, addressing one of the key demands raised by teachers during recent nationwide demonstrations.
