Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has issued a sharp warning to opposition leaders, accusing them of attempting to exploit the planned Gen Z demonstrations for political gain.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Speaking during the launch of the construction of the Iiyuni–Makaveti Road in Kalama, the legislator, who is considered one of President William Ruto's key allies in the Ukambani region, singled out sections of opposition leaders over what he described as efforts to incite young people ahead of Thursday's protests.
Kawaya claimed some opposition figures were secretly encouraging youth to engage in destructive activities while remaining safely on the sidelines.
"I want to send a warning to the opposition. All you do is incite. I hear you are busy inciting youth to burn the country on Thursday," he said.

He further cautioned against introducing tribal politics into the demonstrations, insisting that leaders who support the protests should place their own family members at the forefront.
His remarks came in the wake of uncertainty ahead of Thursday, March, particularly after Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua threw a spanner in the works by urging youth to stay at home on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the former Deputy President spoke in his Wamunyoro residents after hosting Kiambu MCA aspirant, where he urged his supporters to stay off the streets on Thursday.
“Let everybody stay at home. Let us not give an opportunity for loss of life and destruction of businesses. It is pointless. It does not make sense,” Gachagua said.
Separately, days earlier, a section of opposition leaders, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, called on youth to join the march as he appealed to police to ensure the safety of all who will take part.
"We do not expect the police to be trigger-happy again next Thursday because if they are, they will be held responsible. I want to ask Kenyans to take note of every trigger-happy policeman,” Kalonzo said.
