The United Kingdom has issued a travel advisory for Kenya, warning its citizens of potential protests, traffic disruptions and security concerns ahead of the planned June 25, 2026, protests.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a notice dated Wednesday, June 24, the UK government cautioned that the political situation in Kenya could change rapidly between June 25 and July 7, 2026.

"Demonstrations are common in Kenya. These events often cause traffic disruption and can lead to violence. Several demonstrators have been injured and killed in recent years," the UK government stated.

"The situation could change quickly, especially on key dates, including the anniversaries of the 2024 Finance Bill protests between 25 June and 7 July," it added.

📌 What You Need to Know

British nationals were advised to avoid political gatherings and large crowds, monitor local media for updates on planned demonstrations, and follow instructions issued by the Kenyan government.

The UK advisory came just moments after the Spanish Embassy in Kenya issued a similar warning to its citizens ahead of nationwide protests scheduled for tomorrow.

The Spanish government urged its citizens residing in Kenya to limit their movements and remain vigilant throughout the day, with motorists urged to avoid non-essential travel and seek alternative means of transport.

“In view of the protests called for tomorrow, it is recommended that all Spaniards residing in Kenya limit their movements to the maximum extent possible during that day,” the embassy stated.

The warnings come as the country prepares for demonstrations expected in Nairobi and several other towns on Thursday, June 25.

The protests are set to mark the second anniversary of the 2024 youth-led anti-Finance Bill demonstrations, which culminated in the storming of Parliament and left several people dead.
