Bungoma County is gripped by terror after a public health officer was brutally killed at his own home — and sawa, this is the final straw for residents who are now demanding action from security agencies before more blood spills.

From Safe Haven to Crime Scene

Pascal Wakafura thought he was heading home to safety on Monday, May 11. The dedicated public health officer, who served Bungoma County with distinction, pulled into his compound along the Musikoma-Bumula road in Forest View area — and never made it inside alive. Neighbours heard the commotion, heard what they believe was his desperate cry for help, and moments later found his lifeless body at the edge of his compound. Aki, this is not how anyone should go.

The scene told a chilling story: his Toyota Sedan still running, engine warm, compound gate wide open like an invitation to chaos. This wasn't a robbery gone wrong or a moment of rage — this was an ambush, carefully orchestrated and brutally executed. The attackers struck with precision, disappeared into the night, and left an entire county reeling in shock and fear.

Bungoma Is Bleeding, and Nobody's Stopping the Bleeding

Kumbe, this killing didn't happen in isolation. Bungoma County has become a hotspot of violent attacks that would make even the hardest residents lose sleep. Club Solutions Sang'alo, Wekelekha Simba Wanyika Bar, Club 039 — these spots that should be venues of joy have turned into scenes of violence and bloodshed. Entertainment joints that used to pump with music and laughter now pump with fear and dread. Residents are asking the hard questions: where are the police? Where is the security apparatus that's supposed to protect us?

Kanduyi MP John Makali didn't mince words when he expressed his "deep shock and sadness" over Wakafura's death. "That his life ended in such a cruel and senseless manner is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing," he stated. But here's the thing — words alone won't restore peace. The MP and other leaders are now calling on the Ministry of Interior and police to move with lightning speed, hunt down these assailants, and bring them to justice before Bungoma becomes a no-go zone.

🗣️ What Kenya Is Saying

"These incidents have now become far too common," one neighbour lamented, capturing the frustration of residents who are tired of living in fear. "The people of Bungoma deserve safety, peace, and protection," MP Makali declared, speaking what everyone is thinking.

Residents are clear: this is not just about one man's death anymore. This is about the collapse of security in a county where you can't even feel safe pulling into your own driveway. The pattern is too obvious to ignore, the violence too consistent to brush aside.

The Jukwaa Take: Bungoma County needs urgent action, not speeches — the people are watching, and their patience is running out faster than the security agencies' credibility.
