Veteran Kenyan journalist Ramah Nyang has officially left China Global Television Network (CGTN) after 14 years with the broadcaster.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The announcement came during his final broadcast on September 1, where he opened up about what the milestone means to him personally and professionally.
Nyang described the journey as one that allowed him to track the movement of capital and ideas across the African continent in real time, and to have a front-row seat on numerous global occasions.
“So then, on a more personal note, this is where my 14-year run on Global Business Africa comes to an end,” Ramah Nyang stated.
📌 What You Need to Know
Throughout his run, having worked on the Global Business program of the station, he said he watched closely what worked and what didn't for businesses and economies across Africa.
He also thanked viewers for their consistent attention and feedback, noting that he never took their loyalty for granted.
“It's been fascinating charting the ebb and flow of capital and ideas, even quite literally from the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, seeing what has worked and what hasn't across this continent over that period, and having your time, attention, and feedback as well. I certainly don't take it for granted,” he added.
Nyang assured audiences that the Global Business team would keep tracking the continent's economic pulse long after his departure, with his exit marking the end of a significant chapter for one of Africa's most recognisable business broadcasters.
Before joining CGTN in 2012, Nyang had already built a solid name for himself within Kenya's competitive media industry.
He was a sought-after news anchor and reporter at the Standard Group Media’s KTN , one of the country's leading television stations.
