The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has urged teachers enrolled in the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) to update their pension and beneficiary details as part of efforts to keep their retirement records current.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The commission issued the reminder as it joined the PSSF in marking the countdown to World Teachers' Day 2026, encouraging teachers to make use of the fund's digital platform to access information about their pension accounts.
Teachers have been advised to create digital access to their PSSF accounts through the Member Self-Service Portal, where they can view their pension statements and other account information.
"To access your Pension statements and other information about your PSSF account, please create your digital access by signing up on the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal. Then use the same credentials to sign in," TSC stated.
📌 What You Need to Know
The PSSF has also asked members to update their beneficiary records, requiring teachers to provide the necessary details for people they have nominated to receive benefits.
For children listed as beneficiaries, teachers are required to provide their birth certificate numbers, while adult beneficiaries should have their identification and telephone details provided.
Members are also required to distribute the percentage of their pension benefits among their nominated beneficiaries when completing the beneficiary form.
The fund further requires members with minor beneficiaries to provide details of a guardian who can act as a point of contact for expenses paid by the PSSF Trust Fund.
The latest reminder follows a TSC directive issued in July requiring all teachers enrolled in the PSSF to register on the Member Self-Service Portal, as the fund transitioned to a fully digital pension management system.
In a circular dated July 9, TSC directed regional, county and sub-county directors to ensure the registration directive reached teachers under their jurisdiction. At the time, the commission said teachers accounted for about 334,442 of the fund's members.
