The Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) has announced plans to integrate digital literacy and the Competency-Based Curriculum through gender-inclusive strategies under a World Bank-funded project aimed at accelerating Kenya's digital economy.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The Authority has set new requirements for consulting firms seeking to help integrate digital literacy into the CBC, with the consultancy falling under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP).
Among the requirements, interested firms must therefore include proof of experience in developing artificial intelligence (AI) curricula.
In a tender notice issued on Tuesday, October 13, ITA invited eligible consulting firms to first express interest in an assignment aimed at integrating digital literacy into the school curriculum through gender-inclusive strategies.
📌 What You Need to Know
The selected firms will be required to undertake the assignment with the government over 40 calendar weeks from the contract start date.
Applicants are also required to provide details of similar projects they have undertaken, which include the names and addresses of their clients, the scope of the assignment, their value and the period during which the work was completed.
ICTA requires interested firms to be registered as consulting firms with education as their core business for at least five years.
According to the notice, the firm is also required to demonstrate that they have the technical and managerial capacity which helps them to be able to deliver assignments, with the required evidence which should be included in the company’s profile.
The consultancy will focus on integrating and implementing digital literacy in CBC through gender inclusive strategies , although the specific subjects or grade levels that will be affected have not been indicated.
This comes at a time when the Ministry of Education, in recent months, has begun an AI education push in over 10,000 public junior schools back in the month of July.
