If you thought the 2027 general elections were still far off, think again bana! In Nigeria, the political chessboard is already blazing hot after a powerful lobby group pledged a whopping five million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano Governor Abba Yusuf. Aki, when it comes to early campaign arithmetic, West Africa plays in an entirely different league!

The 5-Million Ballot Promise

During an energetic gathering in Kano over the weekend, the Society for People with Disability Forum across the North-West declared full allegiance to Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The forum's National Chairman, Yarima Suleiman, rallied members spanning 19 northern states plus Abuja to lock down the ballot box for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. Kumbe people don't sleep when political survival is on the line!

Suleiman argued that Tinubu’s government had actually delivered tangible wins rather than empty campaign talk. He highlighted the establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities and high-level advisory appointments at the presidency as proof that their interests are finally being taken seriously. To them, ndio maana it makes total sense to mobilise early and secure Tinubu a second lap in Aso Rock.

Quid Pro Quo: "Give Us Our Five Percent!"

Lakini don't get it twisted—this endorsement is definitely not free charity work. The lobby group made it crystal clear that these five million votes come with hard conditional terms. They are demanding the total implementation of a five percent appointment quota for persons with disabilities across all federal ministries, departments, and government agencies. Si uone masterclass bargaining power at play!

Kano State’s Governor Abba Yusuf is also locked into the arrangement. Suleiman claimed they already struck a deal with Yusuf for state-level slots in exchange for backing his second-term bid. Represented by his Commissioner for Women Affairs and Special Needs, Amina Sani-Abdullahi, Yusuf reaffirmed his loyalty to the cause, pointing to recent rollouts of specialised wheelchairs and heavy funding for para-sports champions.

💥 Why This Is Turning Heads

  • The numbers game: In a country where voter turnout often swings elections by razor-thin margins, five million organised votes are an absolute goldmine.
  • Bold leverage: Persons with disabilities are refusing to sit back as passive welfare cases; they are acting as a ruthless voting bloc demanding seats at the high table.
  • Cross-party intrigue: Governor Yusuf is from the opposition NNPP while Tinubu leads the APC, proving that local political deals in Nigeria can cross party lines faster than lightning.

The Jukwaa Take: Whether the five million votes actually show up on election day or not, this move proves that in African democracy, you don’t beg for power—you weaponise your numbers to demand a seat at the table.
