ANC Chief Whip Mdumiseni Ntuli is set to lay charges against DA MP Mark Burke and the company he founded, Kastelo. Allegations involving the movement of R4-billion by Kastelo are currently under investigation by the Reserve Bank. The Johannesburg High Court has dismissed an application by the company to have its bank accounts unfrozen. While subsidies are not bad in themselves and must be properly designed and implemented, the subsidy removed by the Tinubu administration had to go. That subsidy regime was introduced in the 1970s, and a lot has changed since then. In my view, it was almost irresponsible that it was not removed earlier. We should not return to the pre-2023 era. However, our industrial competitiveness and trade policy are tied to energy incentives. We may need targeted subsidies for manufacturing at some point, but any such scheme must be structured solely for that purpose. In 2022, Adeleke scored 403,000 votes out of 805,000 valid votes, amounting to 50% of the total. In 2026, he scored 511,000 votes out of 984,000 valid votes, amounting to 52% — a 2% increase from 2022. This is bad news for the APC, as the party’s popularity continues to decline in Osun. At the 2023 presidential election, the Accord Party recorded just 1,006 votes. Less than 6 months later, the party’s popularity has surged significantly. Governor Ademola Adeleke met President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday for their first post-election meeting, arriving at 5:25pm for a closed-door discussion. Governor Ademola Adeleke thanked President Tinubu for allowing a free and fair Osun governorship election, despite allegations of vote-buying, coercion, violence and killings during the polls. Davido jokingly celebrated Governor Adeleke’s Osun election victory with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja, as the moment served as a light-hearted victory lap following Adeleke’s win over the APC candidate. It comes as a viral video showed an Osun elder warning Governor Adeleke against declaring that the state will vote for President Tinubu, stressing that his victory came from serving the people. A battle over the future of the Comrades Marathon dominates this edition of Beyond Game Day as Thabiso Sithole and Vata Ngobeni unpack the breakdown between the Comrades Marathon Association, Athletics South Africa and KwaZulu-Natal Athletics. With the historic 100th running approaching, the argument moves beyond boardrooms and public statements to the questions runners actually care about: can the race proceed cleanly, what happens to official records and qualifying times if the dispute remains unresolved, and why has one of South Africa’s biggest sporting institutions reached this point? Then the rivalry takes over. Are the Springboks really undercooked before facing the All Blacks, or has recent history shifted the balance? Could another World Cup Make Siya Kolisi’s side rugby’s greatest team? The hosts also look at what a successful Ferrari chapter could mean for Lewis Hamilton’s legacy, before turning to the MTN8 and the possibility of an Orlando Pirates–Mamelodi Sundowns final.
