Absa reports higher earnings despite decline outside South Africa

South African lender Absa Group reported an 8% rise in first-half headline earnings to $788 million, driven by stronger performance in its home market. The growth helped offset a 10% decline in earnings from the rest of the continent, weighed down in part by Ghana and Kenya.
